Mockingjay

Mockingjay, a breathtaking 390 page novel written by Suzanne Collins, is about Katniss continueing the rebelion of the rebels. She is taken to many of the districts to help give the rebels inspiration, she does this by fighting by there side and by just appearing there. Near the middle of the novel Peeta is saved, by the rebels, after being tortured and interrogated by the Capitol. Katniss is overcome with joy, but when she goes to see him he trys to strangle her. The medical crew tells her that he has been hyjacked, the process of having your good memories turned into bad ones. Katniss gets really angry and goes to district two to help the rebels overcome the capitol. After, Katniss goes to the Capitol to provide inspiration to the rebels, but Katniss disobeys her command and sets off on a journey to capture President Snow. Katniss and the rebels finally capture Snow, but what will they do now?? Read this amazing series to get the whole story, I recommend this to anyone who has an open mind, loves to read, or loves thrillers.

Sea Glass

Sea Glass, a 248 page novel by Laurence Yep*, is about a boy named Craig who is forced to move to Conception from his home in Chinatown. When he arrives in Conception he is singled out to be "Chinese" and no one wants to be his friend. His father tells him to earn Westerners respect and friendship he had to be good at sports, like he himself was. He meets his grandfather delivering groceries and relizes that his father only wants him to do sports because that is how he "fit in".Craig is not good at sports but, earns friends by trying and being himself and in the end he has all a kid ever needs, friendship and the love of his parents. I recommend this book to anyone eager to learn about Chinese culture and how some people can be really prejudiced at times.

*This book is double pages at this time.
